Design Vision Featured in Parade Home & Garden

Mudrooms and entryways are SO much more than pass-through spaces. They’re where shoes get kicked off, bags get dropped, and real life happens in those first and last moments of the day. When they’re designed with intention, they don’t just keep clutter in check—they make coming home feel calmer, easier, and just a little more grounding.

At Design Vision, we believe that even the most functional spaces deserve just as much intention and beauty as the rest of the home. That’s why we were so excited to see our recent mudroom design included in Parade Home & Garden’s roundup of 15 Mudroom Organization Ideas—proof that practical and beautiful can (and should) coexist.

In the feature, we shared how we think about mudrooms—not just as storage, but as spaces that should feel welcoming and well-integrated with the rest of the home. In our Squirrel Hill Road project, we designed mesh-front cabinets that keep shoes easy to spot without leaving them out in the open. It’s a solution that supports the family’s everyday rhythms while still feeling intentional and refined.

Our Approach To Your Mudroom Design

When we design a mudroom, we always start with real life. Who’s in and out every day? What needs to be easy to grab? Where do backpacks land—and what about those muddy boots? Those simple, everyday details guide the design and help create a space that just works, without adding extra effort to the day.

At the heart of every mudroom we design is thoughtful storage. Built-ins, clear zones, concealed storage, and durable materials help create order without visual noise. It’s not about perfection—it’s about not tripping over shoes before your first cup of coffee! When everything has a place to land (including the things that never seem to make it there on their own), mornings run more smoothly and coming home feels effortless.

We also believe mudrooms should feel like a true extension of the home, not an afterthought. Beautiful millwork, layered lighting, and thoughtfully selected finishes help the space feel just as intentional as a kitchen or living room. Practicality and beauty don’t have to compete—they can live comfortably side by side (even in a room full of boots).

We’re grateful to Parade Home & Garden for including Design Vision among so many inspiring ideas, and we’re always thankful to the clients and collaborators who allow us to create spaces that support real life in meaningful ways.

If you’ve been thinking about reimagining your entryway or creating a mudroom that works harder for your family, we’d love to talk about your project.
